Who are you?
Hello, internet traveller. To reiterate: my name is Kami.
I'm an artist, first and foremost. I've been drawing the things I love since I was very little. Needless to say, art is an integral part of who I am. I hope to share this passion with the rest of the internet. I'm primarily focused on anime/manga art these days but sometimes you can find me posting pieces that are on the more furry side of things. Don't worry, all of my art is strictly safe for work.
I consider myself to be a relatively simple person, I don't need much in my life to be content, just having time to rest and do the things I love is enough to keep me happy. I'm quite introverted, and I tend to keep to myself, but I always appreciate some company. I don't always tend to show it, but I truly love my friends and I wouldn't trade them for the world.
If you want to know what I've been up to lately, you can take a look at my 'now' page.
What is this site about?
My site is meant to be a somewhat professional space where I can showcase my work without having to worry about the dreaded algorithm that plagues modern social media. When I was younger, I struggled a lot with caring too much about social media numbers, the seeds of which were planted when I was just starting to post my art online. I still remember the times where I would why my art doesn't get the same attention as someone with tens of thousands of followers. No matter how much I improved my skills, it felt like I was fighting a losing battle with an enemy that wasn't tangible.
But then I realized something important, none of this shit matters! When I die and get buried in the ground, nobody is going to count my worth based on how many people follow me on Twitter, because this online shit isn't real life! I don't remember when I first had this epiphany, but when I did, it felt like I could start being more true to myself online. I admit, sometimes I still struggle with how well my art is doing online, but I found that having a space where I wouldn't have to worry about social media metrics really eases my anxiety.
You may have noticed I said my site is only somewhat professional. As much as I like sharing my work online, what I really like doing is being insane about the nerdy stuff I'm interested in, whether it be games, manga, or something else entirely. I've always been a bit of a fandom hopper, and while social media is a good place to meet people who are into the same things as me, I find that sometimes it can be a little stressful. Having a place where I can dump my brainworms without fear of judgement is a lot more rewarding. In this way, keeping a website is more of a never-ending creative endeavor, with the primary audience being myself.
So, what made me want to make a site in the first place? A combination of Twitter (I'm not calling it X) getting bought out by professional dirtbag Elon Musk, feelings of frustration by the lack of larger alternative sites to host my work, and a recently acquired interest in browsing random Neocities sites led me to the decision of giving this webmastering thing a shot. I actually tried making a Neocities site in the past with the same url name, but it never went anywhere, and I'd also hate to let this url name go to waste, you know?
How can I support you?
Thank you for being so kind. To support me financially, you can tip me at my Kofi account or get a commission from me. If you can't do that, then simply sharing my work with others is enough for me :).
